Iowa Child Support Law
In Iowa, child support is designed to provide for the needs of children, including health insurance costs and necessary daycare costs. Iowa's child support guidelines require the court to consider the net monthly income of both parents. Net income is calculated in accordance with the support guidelines.
If a non-custodial parent has more than 128 overnights in a calendar year, they may be entitled to an extraordinary visitation deduction. Typically, no deduction is provided to non-custodial parents with less than 128 overnight visits.
